HOW WE START?
Activity: “Me in 30 seconds” everybody in
the class introduced themselves in 30 seconds describing the special aspect
that makes them unique.
Students received a brief introduction about the Access Micro Scholarship Program in Bolivia and worldwide.
What is Service Learning?
- Students identified and described: Civic Engagement, Volunteering or Community Service and an English class.
- Students took a first look about Service Learning, mapping and connecting ideas regarding to Civic Engagement, Volunteering and English language.
Students received a brief description about
the Service Learning Workshop, placed in Bowling Green, Ohio October
17-November 1, 2016.
Ice Breaker: Students participated playing Stuck on you! (ice breaker showed in Bolivia ACCESS Teachers & Coordinators Training Camp).
Students observed the first example of a Service Learning activity:
- “Seeing Difference” project, performed by students from Columbus Global Academy – Access Teachers –BGSU students - YWCA Teen Outreach Program (TOP) in Toledo, Ohio. http://www.seeingdifference.org/
-Mapping our similarities and differences (reflection)
- Communication activity: students participated in a Back-to-Back activity (showed in Bolivia ACCESS Teachers & Coordinators Training Camp).
Picture 1: Access students during the ice breaker: Stuck on you! They tried to take
all the scotch tape pieces pasted on them and bumping each other.
Picture Group: Access students mapping their similarities and differences according to
their drawings made by listening each other back-to-back.
Reflection: Any type of background can communicate an idea.
